Lesson Plan
- Concept/Topic To Teach:Using Don' t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus by Mo Willems as a model to have students create a storyboard with their own characters
- Standards Addressed:Technology Standard 8.1.2.B.1 Illustrate and communicate original ideas and stories using digital tools and media-rich resources.
- General Goal(s):Read aloud pictures books by Mo Willems and become familiar with his characters.
- Specific Objectives:Create an original digital story and share it with other kindergarten classmates
- Required Materials:Storyboard and video camera
- Anticipatory Set : Watch the video on Mo Willems.com which has Mo showing children how to draw his pigeon character.
- Step-By-Step Procedures:Each student will draw two pictures for the storyboard, and then create and rehearse a script. Teacher will tape the digital story.
- Closure (Reflect Anticipatory Set):Teacher will upload the digital story to "You Tube" and share with other classmates.
- Assessment Based On Objectives: Classmates will provide positive comments about story
- Adaptations (For Students With Learning Disabilities):teacher assistance with script
- Extensions (For Gifted Students):Adding more than the 4 required slides
- Possible Connections To Other Subjects:Mo Willems author study in literacy and library classes
